Location: Ottawa and Greater Toronto Area
Opportunity Status: Recruiting for current and anticipated client assignments. Availability depends on confirmed service demand, location and scheduling requirements.
Engagement Options: Casual or part-time employee opportunities and independent contractor opportunities. The available arrangement will depend on operational requirements and the nature of the working relationship.
Employee Compensation: $25–$31 per hour, based on relevant education and experience
Independent Contractor Fee: $30–$36 per authorized service hour, based on qualifications, experience and assignment requirements

About HolistiCare
HolistiCare Inc. is an Ontario-based multidisciplinary clinical and educational services provider supporting neurotypical and neurodiverse children, youth and families. Our services include supervised ABA-based intervention, educational and learning support, executive-function coaching, social and life-skills programming, family support, and centre- and community-based programs.
Our current service capacity varies by program, staffing and location. We are actively developing service opportunities across Ottawa and the Greater Toronto Area while building collaborative relationships with families, schools and community partners.
Position Summary
The Supervised ABA Therapist / Behaviour Technician provides direct, individualized ABA-based services to children and youth under the clinical direction and supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst — R.B.A. (Ont.), BCBA.
The role involves implementing approved skill-acquisition and behaviour-support programs, collecting and documenting service data, preparing session materials, and communicating relevant observations to the supervising clinician. Services may occur in approved centre, home, school or community settings according to confirmed assignments and organizational requirements.
This role does not independently conduct clinical assessments, establish diagnoses, develop treatment plans or authorize changes to clinical programming. Duties, schedules and service locations will depend on the selected engagement arrangement and confirmed client assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities Applicable to Both Arrangements
- Deliver one-to-one and, when assigned, small-group ABA-based services in accordance with written programs and clinical direction provided by the supervising Registered Behaviour Analyst.
- Implement approved skill-acquisition, behaviour-support and generalization procedures within the individual’s training, demonstrated competence and assigned responsibilities.
- Collect, record and submit accurate session data and required documentation within established timelines.
- Communicate relevant changes, concerns, incidents and client responses to the supervising clinician without independently changing clinical programming.
- Prepare appropriate session materials and maintain a safe, respectful and organized service environment.
- Support approved client goals involving communication, social participation, learning, daily living and other areas identified in the individualized program.
- Participate in required clinical supervision and case-related communication.
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, team members, schools and community partners when authorized and appropriate.
- Protect personal health information and maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable legislation, professional requirements and HolistiCare policies.
- Follow applicable safeguarding, health and safety, incident-reporting, documentation and professional-conduct requirements.
Casual or Part-Time Employee Arrangement
- Work scheduled hours assigned or agreed upon through the employment relationship and promptly communicate availability or attendance concerns.
- Attend required paid orientation, training, supervision, meetings and other work-related activities.
- Complete assigned clinical and administrative duties during paid working time using HolistiCare’s approved systems and procedures.
- Follow lawful workplace directions, employment policies and performance expectations applicable to the employee role.
Independent Contractor Arrangement
- Independently decide whether to accept or decline each proposed assignment before entering into the applicable service arrangement.
- Deliver accepted services according to the independent contractor agreement, agreed appointment schedule, authorized clinical program and applicable professional and safety requirements.
- Manage the contractor’s own business obligations, invoicing, taxes, insurance, registrations, expenses and records, except where the written agreement states otherwise.
- Provide the accepted services and required documentation within the agreed scope and timelines.
- Understand that no minimum number of referrals, assignments, clients, service hours or earnings is guaranteed.
- Meet all requirements stated in the independent contractor agreement before receiving or continuing an assignment.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Postsecondary education completed or in progress in psychology, applied behaviour analysis, behavioural science, child and youth care, developmental services, social services, education, early childhood education or a related field; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to follow written clinical programs, collect accurate data and complete clear, timely documentation.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality and respectful interactions with children, youth and families.
- Ability to participate in clinical supervision, receive feedback and work within assigned responsibilities and demonstrated competence.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada for employee opportunities or legally able to provide contracted services in Canada for independent contractor opportunities.
- Ability to travel to accepted or assigned service locations. A personal vehicle is not required unless specifically identified as necessary for a particular assignment.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening before beginning services, where required and subject to applicable law.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it before beginning an assignment where required.
Preferred Qualifications and Assets
- Experience supporting children or youth with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioural needs or diverse learning profiles.
- Experience implementing supervised ABA-based skill-acquisition or behaviour-support programs.
- Experience providing services in centre, home, school or community settings.
- Relevant Behaviour Technician, Registered Behavior Technician, crisis-prevention, safety or related training.
- Professional ability to communicate in French, English or another language used by the communities HolistiCare serves.
Additional Requirements for Independent Contractors
- Ability to operate as an independent business and satisfy the requirements of the applicable independent contractor agreement.
- Maintain appropriate insurance, business registrations, tax accounts and other documentation required for the accepted services.
- Submit invoices and maintain business records in accordance with the contractor agreement and applicable law.
- Provide evidence of required qualifications, insurance and other assignment-specific documentation before services begin.
What We Offer
For Casual or Part-Time Employees
- Employee compensation of $25–$31 per hour, based on relevant education and experience.
- Applicable minimum employment standards, including vacation pay, public-holiday entitlements and other statutory protections.
- Payment for all required working time, including required documentation, meetings, orientation, training and clinical supervision.
- Scheduling based on confirmed client needs, employee availability and operational requirements. No minimum number of hours is guaranteed.
For Independent Contractors
- Contractor fees of $30–$36 per authorized service hour, based on qualifications, experience and assignment requirements.
- Ability to accept or decline proposed assignments before entering into the applicable service arrangement.
- Written assignment terms identifying the service scope, fee, documentation expectations and other applicable conditions.
- Clinical supervision for each accepted assignment will be identified in writing. Supervision may be provided by a qualified Registered Behaviour Analyst engaged by HolistiCare or by another qualified Registered Behaviour Analyst proposed by the contractor and approved by HolistiCare for the assignment.
- Any supervision fees, documentation responsibilities, communication requirements and clinical-accountability arrangements will be identified in the applicable written agreement.
- No minimum number of referrals, clients, assignments, service hours or earnings is guaranteed.
