Position Summary

The Registered Teacher provides individualized academic instruction based on each learner’s current abilities, educational goals and confirmed learning plan. Depending on the assignment, services may include literacy, numeracy, curriculum-based instruction, academic assessment, lesson planning, learning-strategy development, executive-function support and progress monitoring.

The teacher adapts instructional methods, materials, pacing and assessment approaches to support learner participation, understanding and skill development. Services must remain within the teacher’s demonstrated competence, professional obligations and assigned responsibilities.

Where authorized and relevant, the teacher may coordinate with families, schools and approved educational or clinical professionals. Educational instruction may complement a learner’s clinical or behavioural services but must not be represented, documented or invoiced as ABA treatment or an Ontario Autism Program core clinical service.

Employees follow applicable HolistiCare policies, procedures, scheduling requirements and program direction. Independent contractors provide agreed services through their independent businesses and retain control over their professional teaching methods, subject to their service agreements, applicable law, Ontario College of Teachers requirements and agreed learner outcomes. Neither arrangement guarantees minimum hours, a particular schedule or ongoing assignments.
