About HolistiCare

HolistiCare Inc. is an Ontario-based multidisciplinary clinical and educational services provider supporting neurotypical and neurodiverse individuals and their families. Our services may include applied behaviour analysis, individualized academic instruction, tutoring, executive-function coaching, social and life-skills development, caregiver support and other professional services, depending on client needs and service availability.

Our team works collaboratively across approved centre, home, school, community and remote settings in Ottawa. Service availability varies according to confirmed demand, professional capacity, location and program requirements. HolistiCare values culturally and linguistically responsive services, and French-language capacity is an important priority as our educational programs grow.

Position Summary

HolistiCare is seeking Academic Tutors to provide individualized or small-group educational support to neurotypical and neurodiverse learners. Depending on the confirmed assignment, tutoring may include literacy, reading comprehension, writing, curriculum reinforcement, homework organization, study strategies, school readiness and general academic skill development. Specialized mathematics tutoring is recruited through a separate Mathematics Tutor position.

Within the scope of tutoring, tutors may identify a learner’s academic strengths and areas requiring support, establish appropriate learning objectives, select suitable educational strategies, monitor progress and communicate with learners, parents or guardians and authorized team members.

Academic tutoring must not be represented as regulated professional teaching, psychological or clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, ABA therapy or an Ontario Autism Program core clinical service unless the individual separately holds the applicable professional qualifications, authorization and assigned clinical or professional role.

Employees perform assigned responsibilities through HolistiCare’s operational structure and follow applicable policies, procedures and program direction. Independent tutor contractors deliver the services and outcomes described in accepted service agreements and retain responsibility for their professional tutoring methods and business operations, subject to applicable law, learner safety, privacy requirements and agreed service terms.

French-language ability is highly valued and may be required for designated bilingual or French-language tutoring assignments. Available work depends on confirmed learner demand, subject requirements, scheduling and tutor availability; minimum hours and ongoing assignments are not guaranteed.

  • Promptly report safety concerns, incidents, suspected abuse or circumstances affecting service delivery through the applicable reporting process.

Scope of Academic Tutoring

  • Keep academic tutoring separate from regulated professional teaching, psychological or clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment unless separately qualified and formally authorized to perform that work.
  • Support academic goals that may complement authorized educational, clinical or behavioural services without independently modifying a professional treatment or education plan.
  • Do not independently provide, represent, document or invoice academic tutoring as ABA treatment or an Ontario Autism Program core clinical service.
  • Do not make claims regarding a learner’s diagnosis, disability, treatment needs or eligibility for funding.

Additional Responsibilities for Employees

  • Ability to recognize when a learner’s needs fall outside the tutor’s competence or accepted assignment and require referral or additional professional support.
  • Understanding of applicable privacy, confidentiality, professional-boundary, safeguarding and duty-to-report responsibilities.
  • Any screening or documentation requirement will be applied in accordance with applicable law and the requirements of the confirmed assignment.

Additional Requirements for Independent Contractors

  • Ability to operate an independent business and enter into a written service agreement with HolistiCare.
